Corps of Engineers updates preventative measures in place for COVID-19 at West Hill Dam in Uxbridge, Northbridge
In accordance with the US Army Corps of Engineers policies and procedures, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) Stay-At-Home and Safe Practices Advisory, and the following COVID-19 measures continue at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, West Hill Dam, Uxbridge, Mass., effective April 7, 2020. Parking Lots and recreation facilities, playgrounds, public restrooms and trash receptacles, are closed to the public until further notice.

Army Dive Team, MVM completes critical stringout repairs
The 74th Army Dive Detachment Team, with the help of several of our Ensley Engineer Yard skilled tradesmen, recently repaired sections of a highly critical structure here at the Memphis District Ensley Engineer Yard. The vital structure this team spent time repairing is known as the stringout, which to many might look like a pier or dock.

Corps operates Sepulveda Dam during rain storms
Sepulveda Dam is the western-most of the Corps of Engineers’ dams operated by the Los Angeles District in the Los Angeles County Drainage Area flood control system. The purpose of the project is to collect flood runoff from the uncontrolled drainage areas upstream, store it temporarily and release it into the Los Angeles River at a rate that does not exceed the downstream channel capacity.

The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has received three mission assignments from FEMA to construct alternate care facilities in Northern Virginia, the Hampton Roads region and in the Richmond, Virginia area.

A multidisciplinary team of Memphis District engineers spent the weekend preparing documents that outline the scope of work required to convert the Gateway Shopping Center on Jackson Avenue into a COVID-19 Alternate Care Facility (ACF).

Corps of Engineers lowers floodfight response level to Phase I in northern areas
The Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) lowered its floodfight activation level to Phase I in the Cairo, Missouri, and Reelfoot-Obion Areas due to falling Mississippi River levels. At the Phase I floodfight activation level, a reduced number of Corps of Engineers personnel will remain deployed in the field and monitor all federal flood control works including levees, flood walls and pumping stations.

USACE adds 4 additional locations to alternate care sites in NY, NM
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers added four new contracts on to construct alternate care sites in response to COVID-19. The new locations will be in Queens, NY; Bronx, NY; Staten Island, NY, and Albuquerque, NM. The contracts were issued on Friday and Saturday. USACE has completed 756 assessments of possible locations for alternate care sites. USACE is working in support of the FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency - and in coordination with other federal, state, local and tribal partners – in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Eau Galle Recreation Area hours cut due to vandalism
ST. PAUL, Minn. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is cutting hours of operation at the main day use area at Eau Galle Recreation Area near Spring Valley, Wisconsin, due to a recent sting of vandalism.
