    Contract awarded for Old Town Seepage Remediation project

    Congratulations to the Old Town Seepage Remediation Project Delivery Team on reaching their Contract Award Milestone for their project located in Arkansas and Cotton Belt Levee District Number One. The project team awarded the $5,042,556 contract to the Sytes Corporation. The project involves extending the existing seepage remediation berm. The slated begin date for construction is Oct. 16 this year, with a tentative completion date of April 2023.
  • The Absecon Island project features include a dune and berm system that is designed to reduce the risk of storm damages to infrastructure and property.

    Army Corps awards contract for Absecon Island beach nourishment

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District awarded a contract to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company of Oak Brook, Illinois for $23.8 million to complete periodic nourishment of the Absecon Island Coastal Storm Risk Management project in Atlantic County, N.J. The contract calls for placing approximately two million cubic yards of sand onto the beach in Atlantic City, Ventnor City, Margate City, and the borough of Longport.

    USACE Temporarily Closes West Point Dam Road

    To ensure public safety during the maintenance of West Point Dam, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at West Point Lake will temporarily close vehicular and pedestrian traffic across West Point Dam Road on August 4, 2020 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is currently reviewing a Southeastern Public Service Authority proposal to expand landfill operations at the existing regional landfill in Suffolk through the Environmental Impact Statement process. As part of the process, the Corps is conducting public scoping through Sept. 14, utilizing a web-based Virtual Public Scoping Room.

    Army Corps in Baltimore on alert preparing for potential Hurricane Isaias impacts

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, is actively preparing for potential impacts from Hurricane Isaias, which could reach the mid-Atlantic region in the coming days. The District’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has been activated at 2 Hopkins Plaza in downtown Baltimore and virtually to coordinate all emergency response activities.

    Seagrass restoration part of lower Chesapeake Bay Watershed ecosystem project

    The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers placed safety signage for the Lynnhaven River Basin Ecosystem Restoration Project’s submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) planting efforts in Broad Bay, near First Landing State Park, within the Lynnhaven River watershed, July 30.
  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District (Corps) will be rehabilitating the diffuser blocks at the base of the diversion dam at Rooks Park beginning August 3, resulting in trail detours and trail closures in Rooks Park.

    20-041 Diffuser block rehabilitation to result in trail closures at Rooks Park

    Walla Walla, WA -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District (Corps) will be rehabilitating the diffuser blocks at the base of the diversion dam at Rooks Park beginning August 3, resulting in trail detours and trail closures in Rooks Park.
  • Five-thousandth shipment of FUSRAP-related material on the scales at the Luckey Site. Each truckload averages approximately 16.5 tons of FUSRAP-related material.

    LUCKEY FUSRAP SITE SAFELY TRANSPORTS 5,000th TRUCKLOAD OF MATERIAL FOR DISPOSAL – PHASE 1 EXCAVATION COMPLETE

    The 5,000th truck left the Luckey Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program Site today, loaded with material contaminated with beryllium, radium-226, thorium-230, uranium-234, uranium-238, and lead, which marks the substantial completion of Phase 1.
