Financial Assurances of Compensatory Mitigation Projects

What are financial assurances? A mechanism to help ensure that a compensatory mitigation project is successfully completed. Financial assurances provide resources to correct, complete, or replace a compensatory mitigation project in the event that the responsible party (permittee, mitigation bank sponsor, or in-lieu fee program sponsor) is unable or unwilling to do so. In other words, financial assurances help to manage the risk of failing to successfully complete a compensatory mitigation project, including its performance standards (milestones).
