Brigadier General Kirk E. Gibbs assumed responsibility as the Deputy Commanding General for Military and International Operations, Headquarters, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Washington, D.C., on August 12, 2024.
He is responsible for policy, programming, and technical support in the execution of an annual $25 billion portfolio of engineering, design, construction, and environmental programs for the U.S. Army, other Services, Joint Force, Department of Defense and federal agencies, and foreign countries integral to military readiness and defense of the Nation and its allies.
Prior to assuming responsibility, Gibbs served as the Commanding General and Division Engineer of the Pacific Ocean Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; Chief of Staff, Headquarters, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; Commander of the Los Angeles District of the South Pacific Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; C7 engineer for CJTF-1, 1st Infantry Division, Regional Command-East, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; and Commander of the 1st Engineer Battalion, Fort Riley, Kansas.
BG Gibbs earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy in 1994, a Master of Science in Engineering Management in 1998 from the Missouri Institute of Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri, and a master’s in National Security Strategy from the National War College in 2013.
Gibbs’ operational deployments include four deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Intrinsic Action, and Operation Joint Forge.
