What does assessment mean?
• The assessments examine a site’s potential as an alternate care facility needed for the COVID-19 pandemic response.
• Site assessments determine if medical requirements are met including how many patients can fit into spaces and the proximity to nearby hospitals for critical elements of healthcare; utility requirements such as electrical, lighting, water, air filtration and handling capacities; safety features for emergency response and egress; staging of ambulances; and parking availability.
• Once site assessments are complete, USACE provides the reports to and works with our partners so they can make informed decisions in the best interest of their state or territory. States or territories can request continued assistance from USACE or execute the alternate care facility design and construction mission on their own based on their projected needs.
