SAVANNAH, Ga. – The results of tests of the dissolved oxygen (DO) injection system for the Savannah harbor concludes the multi-million-dollar apparatus successfully mitigates for the reduction in DO in the Savannah River due to the current deepening project.

Corps of Engineers announces resumption of recreation fee collection at Hartwell Lake
The Savannah District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, announced today it will resume day-use and boat launching fee collection at Hartwell Lake beginning March 12 and will no longer accept cash at these areas.

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Forest, Fish, and Wildlife Section at the J. Strom Thurmond Project will accept real Christmas trees for recycling as fish habitat, December 21, 2020, through January 17, 2021.

Work to begin at former Camp Croft to find and remove WW II munitions
SAVANNAH, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will begin conducting field work associated with the remedial action for Project 07 at the Camp Croft Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS) on Dec. 14, 2020. Project 07 consists of approximately 1,277 acres within Croft State Park in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

SAVANNAH, Ga. – With Independence Day approaching, Corps of Engineers officials remind visitors, campers and private dock owners that using fireworks on Corps lands and waters is prohibited by long-standing regulations.

Corps of Engineers to reopen primitive campgrounds at Thurmond Lake
Primitive campgrounds Bussey Point and LeRoys Ferry are set to reopen on June 19 at J. Strom Thurmond Lake. All reservations and payments must now be made through Recreation.gov. The camping fee remains $10 per night.

COE to reopen additional boat ramps, some campgrounds
SAVANNAH, Ga. – Phased reopening of campgrounds and additional boat ramps at reservoirs owned and operated by the Army Corps of Engineers along the Savannah River will take place May 15 and May 18, 2020. Playgrounds, beaches, shelters and life jacket loaner stands will remain closed until further notice. Visitor centers at all three projects will remain closed to the public.
