USACE Chief Lt. Gen. Bostick visits region

HOUSTON, Texas (July 24, 2014) – The 53rd U.S. Army Chief of Engineers and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Lt. Gen. Thomas P. Bostick, met with key stakeholders from the Port of Houston Authority (POHA) and Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) to discuss Corps projects in the Galveston District during his July 23 visit to the region.

USACE Galveston District Spotlight on Mario Beddingfield

GALVESTON, Texas (May 31, 2014) – When Mario Beddingfield’s sixth grade science teacher asked him if he had ever thought about becoming an engineer, he replied that he wasn’t interested in learning how to drive a train. Luckily for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District, curiosity got the better of him and he quickly became captivated with engineering after researching the subject.

USACE Galveston District Spotlight on Kristine Brown

GALVESTON, Texas (April 1, 2014) – Kristine Brown, natural resources specialist and park ranger for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District began her federal career as a staff archaeologist in 1991. Today, she works at the Houston Project Office (Addicks and Barker dams and reservoirs and Wallisville Lake Project) to serve the Greater Houston public, communicating federal laws regarding the preservation and protection of natural resources in the management, operations and maintenance of government water resource properties.

USACE Galveston District awards $1.57 million contract for Addicks and Barker maintenance

GALVESTON, Texas (Sept. 5, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $1, 575,599 to Easky Construction for maintenance repair work at the Addicks and Barker reservoirs and dams, located in southeast Texas in the San Jacinto River basin approximately 17 miles west of downtown Houston.
