    GALVESTON, Texas (July 31, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $2,664,500 to Orion Marine Group for maintenance dredging of the channel to Victoria in Calhoun County, Texas.
  • PUBLIC MEETING: Coastal Texas Protection and Restoration Reconnaissance Study

    GALVESTON, Texas (July 30, 2014) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District is seeking representatives from federal, state and local governments and agencies, Indian tribes, non-governmental organizations, academia, business and industry and individuals interested in participating in public workshops for the purpose of gathering ideas for addressing coastal storm risk management and ecosystem restoration in the coastal Texas region. This outreach effort is being conducted in conjunction with the Coastal Texas Protection and Restoration Reconnaissance Study. We are interested in identifying available information and data that may be useful for this study.

    GALVESTON, Texas (June 24, 2014) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District partnered with the Houston Sail and Power Squadron (a unit of the United States Power Squadrons) to provide recreational boaters with free vessel safety examinations July 4-5 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Trinity River Island Recreation Area (also known as the Wallisville Lake Project Boat Ramp) in Wallisville, Texas.

    GALVESTON, Texas (June 16, 2014) –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District was recognized with two 2014 Public Relations Society of America Silver Anvil Award of Excellence in the Multicultural Public Relations and the Public Service categories for its “Selling water safety to save lives: Army engineers collaborate to combat water-related fatalities” campaign to promote water safety and prevent drownings along the Texas coast.
