  • Corps to release draft report on ecosystem restoration plan for East San Pedro Bay

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District is preparing to release a draft report recommending restoration of aquatic habitat within East San Pedro Bay. The report identifies a Tentatively Selected Plan, which would be the Corps’ first open-ocean ecosystem restoration project in the nation. The plan would provide near-shore and off-shore rocky reefs, kelp reefs and eelgrass beds, and is referred to as the Reef Restoration Plan.

The draft information is available for public, state and agency review and comment starting today, July 18, and ending Aug. 19, 2019.

  • Corps announces review and comment period for environmental document

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, today released a Draft Environmental Assessment titled. “Louisiana Coastal Area (LCA) Beneficial Use of Dredged Material Program, Barataria Bay Waterway at Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.” This environmental assessment covers a proposal to place fill material in the narrow corridor of wetlands that separate Bayou Perot and Bayou Rigolettes in Jefferson Parish.

  • Corps to have public meetings about Whittier Narrows Dam study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will have two public meetings in January to discuss the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Whittier Narrows Dam Safety Modification Study. The meetings are scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Rivera Park Auditorium, 9530 Shade Lane, Pico Rivera, and from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works headquarters, 900 South Fremont Avenue, Alhambra.
