  • LA District awards contract for Nogales Bridge

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District has awarded a contract Sept. 20 for $3,989,708.37 to West Point Contractors, Inc. to construct a replacement bridge over Nogales Wash. The project will begin construction in October and is expected to be complete in June 2014.

  • Navajo County and Army Corps of Engineers preparing award-winning study to serve Winslow-area residents

    The team at Navajo County Public Works, in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District, has been designated as the USACE South Pacific Division’s Planning Team of the Year for the work being done on the Feasibility Study for flood risk management in the Winslow, Ariz. area. The team is also in the running for the South Pacific Division’s “Outstanding Planning Achievement Award for FY 2012.”

  • LA District cleaning up FUDS in Kingman

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District team is moving along with its clean-up work at the Formerly Used Defense Site just outside of Kingman, Ariz. which began Apr. 15. The work being done by the district and its contractor is part of the time-critical removal action for the site, which is referred to as Munitions Response Site 03 of the former Kingman Ground-to-Ground Gunnery Range. The site was used as a skeet range for military training during World War II.

  • LA District continues innovative partnership

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District has helped develop a strong partnership at Alamo Dam and along the Bill Williams River to continue sustaining our nation’s economic and water resources. Through the collaboration, known as the Bill Williams River Corridor Steering Committee, with other government agencies and partners, the Corps ensured the flows from Alamo Dam maximized taxpayer dollars by maintaining a high level of sustainability for a variety of communities.

  • LA District team members brave the elements for annual Tres Rios Nature Festival

    Members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District’s Arizona/Nevada Area Office joined with exhibitors and vendors at the annual Tres Rios Nature and Earth Festival held Mar. 9 and 10 at the Baseline and Meridian Wildlife Area near the Phoenix International Raceway. District team members talked with members of the public about projects across the Valley, the state and the LA District, which covers Southern California, all of Arizona, and portions of Nevada and Utah. One of the major local projects the team discussed was the Tres Rios Environmental Restoration Project.

    Lt. Gen. Thomas Bostick, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers commanding general, attended the Feb. 15 public meeting of the USACE Environmental Advisory Board and visited the USACE Los Angeles District Arizona/Nevada Area Office to meet with local team members.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District Arizona/Nevada Area Office hosted its first Business Opportunities Open House at its downtown office Jan. 29. The event was an open forum designed to let business owners learn about contract opportunities and to learn how to do business with the Corps.

  • LA District commander meets with Tucson engineers, lauds District members

    Col. Mark Toy, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District commander, attended the Society of American Military Engineers, Tucson Post’s, monthly meeting Dec. 19 to present information on the District and to let the assembled business leaders know how they can participate in Corps projects across the District’s area of responsibility.

  • Corps completes Thorpe Rd. Bridge

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District put the finishing touches on the bridge across Thorpe Road over the Rio de Flag in Flagstaff, Ariz. and reopened the thoroughfare to complete the project in December.
