Pablo Vázquez-Ruiz elected president of CIAPR’s Ponce Chapter

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District’s south Puerto Rico resident engineer, Pablo Vázquez-Ruiz, was recently elected president of the Ponce Chapter of the College of Engineers and Surveyors of Puerto Rico (CIAPR in Spanish acronym) as well as treasurer of the College of Engineers and Surveyors of Puerto Rico.

(Sept. 12, 2013) -- A group of technical experts from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District participated in Hands-On Science and Engineering Day at Stratford STEM Magnet High School today to guide young students with budding interests in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Retired teacher volunteers to educate children about water safety

With the spirit of a lifelong educator, retired schoolteacher Pam VanderWeele has shown the reach and impact that U.S. Army Corps of Engineers volunteers can have on communities and people.As a water safety volunteer at Lake Texoma this summer, VanderWeele visited 17 elementary schools surrounding the lake in Texas and Oklahoma, giving presentations to more than 2,000 students in the third through fifth grades.

Army Corps helps support the Army Family through school construction

In 1821 the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in New York established the first school on a military installation to serve the children of service members. Almost two centuries later, the West Point community and Department of Defense continue to be committed to providing these children an education to take them into the 21st century, even in the current tough fiscal times.

Deployed District Employees Thank Third Grade Class

On Jan. 13, Capt. John Deal visited Ms. Tracy Lewis’ third grade class at 7 Bar Elementary School in Rio Rancho, N.M., in order to deliver some gifts
