  • Corps relocates Antilles office to new location

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announced today that its Antilles Office, located at 400 Fernandez Juncos, has officially relocated to the Angel Ramos Foundation-Annex Building.

  • W.P. Franklin South Recreation Area beach closed for swimming

    The Jacksonville District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has closed the beach at W.P. Franklin South Recreation Area for swimming because of concerns about water quality. The beach remains open for sunbathing and recreational activities other than swimming.

    Sandy Higgins, a member of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District’s Romania Missile Defense Agency Resident Office working on the Aegis Ashore project at Naval Support Facility Deveselu, came down with a severe bout of pneumonia this past spring. The long recovery took her into the home of a Romanian husband-and-wife doctor team, who nursed her back to health. A strong personal bond emerged.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, invites the public to provide comments on the draft Environmental Assessment and draft Finding of No Significant Impact for the Identification of Alternative Sand Sources for the Remaining Period of Federal Participation, Dade County Beach Erosion Control and Hurricane Protection Project. The Corps will host public meetings in Miami Aug. 25, Hobe Sound Aug. 26 and Fort Pierce Sept. 2.

  • USACE recognizes Jax District Portugués Dam Project Team

    The Jacksonville District’s Portugués Dam Project Team has won the USACE Dam Safety Team Award of Excellence for 2015. The team brought together experts from across the Corps, as well from the private sector, to design, review and build the thick-arch roller-compacted-concrete dam.

  • Corps announces relocation of Antilles office to Angel Ramos Foundation Annex-Building

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announced today that its Antilles Area Office, currently located at 400 Fernandez Juncos, will temporarily relocate to the Angel Ramos Foundation-Annex Building, 383 FD Roosevelt Ave., San Juan, PR, 00917. The Corps executed up to a 5-year lease, and plans to occupy the new space in early August 2015.

  • Corps invites comment on Lido Key Beach sand source draft environmental assessment

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announces the availability of the draft Finding of No Significant Impact and Draft Environmental Assessment of additional sand sources for the Lido Key Hurricane and Storm Damage Reduction Project in Sarasota County. The Corps’ preferred alternative includes the use of material from the Big Sarasota Pass ebb shoal for placement on 2.4 miles of Lido Beach shoreline.
