Corps urges boaters to use caution in Kissimmee River Restoration Project area

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District is advising boaters to use extreme caution when navigating in the Kissimmee River Restoration Project Area near the C-38 Canal to the east of Hidden Acres Estates. Draft depths are extremely shallow in the area causing it to be non-navigable by most vessels.

Officials mark completion of jetties on historic Smith Island during ceremony

Corps of Engineers to test spillway gates at Richard B. Russell Dam

The test will ensure the gates work properly and can be activated in the event of an emergency to protect the dam plus people and property downstream.

USACE opens dike wall on Unity Island as part of ecosystem restoration effort

Buffalo, NY—The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District opened the stone dike wall between the Niagara River and Unity Island’s North Pond this week, which will allow fresh water from the Niagara River to enter the pond, providing better connectivity for aquatic species.

Army Corps, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation release draft Chesapeake Bay Comprehensive Plan for input

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore and Norfolk districts, in partnership with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), released June 14 the draft Chesapeake Bay Comprehensive Water Resources and Restoration Plan and Restoration Roadmap that identifies 3,840 candidate aquatic ecosystem restoration, enhancement and conservation projects for implementation throughout the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.

District dangles training dummy to get smart on confined space safety
