  • NR 19-040: Center Hill Lake beach closed due to high E.coli levels

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 16, 2019) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces the immediate closure of Ragland Bottom Day Use Beach at Center Hill Lake in Smithville, Tenn., due to E.coli detected in the water. Buzzards are suspected and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Service technicians have been contacted for support.

  • Portions of Abiquiu Lake reopened

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District, announced today that the lake has reopened except for swimming along the Cerrito Recreation Area shoreline. Open areas include the boat ramp and land areas within the Cerrito Day-Use Recreation Area. However, the swim beach is still closed and swimming along the Cerrito shoreline is not allowed due to the presence of a toxic blue-green algae bloom.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 5, 2019) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that Ragland Bottom Day Use Beach at Center Hill Lake in Smithville, Tenn., is reopened as water conditions have returned to acceptable levels.

  • Outlet Park Beach closed at Melvern Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Melvern Lake announce the immediate closure of Outlet Park Beach due to elevated levels of E. coli bacteria, which could cause health risks. The beach will be closed until further notice and will re-open as soon as E. coli have returned to safe levels. Corps officials will have the water at the beach tested again Sunday, June 30, 2019, to determine whether the beach can be opened for the holiday weekend.
