  • Water Safety at Little Beaver Fishing Derby

    Once again, to support the 24th annual fishing derby at Little Beaver State Park, U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Park Rangers Carl Mullins and Travis Daugherty teamed up with West Virginia Division of Natural Resources to bring water safety to the event.
  • High Water at Mark Twain Lake

    Mark Twain Lake is experiencing higher than normal water levels due to the recent rainfall in the watershed. The lake is expected to crest at less than 619 NGVD by Friday with no additional precipitation. The normal pool elevation is 606 NGVD.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake is hosting the annual Rend Lake Beach Blast Saturday, June 13, at the South Sandusky Beach. Rend Lake Park Rangers will host this fun-filled event that includes games for all ages, music, and learning how to be safe while in and around the water. This popular event will kick off at noon and will run until 4:00 p.m.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites the public to a family fishing event at Spearfish Park, near Dallesport, Washington, on June 6 from 9 a.m. to noon. The event coincides with the state of Washington’s free fishing weekend and national Get Outdoors Day.
  • High water impacts to Tulsa District Corps recreation areas

    The Tulsa District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today a list of temporary recreation closures due to high water from recent rain events in the district. This list will be updated as needed. Visitors should note that this is a dynamic situation and this information could change within a few hours depending upon rainfall. It is best to call the lake office to check on campsite and boat ramp availability or go to Recreation.gov before going to the lake.
  • Corps suspends swimming activities at Franklin Recreation Area

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District has temporarily suspended swimming and other water activities at the W.P. Franklin South Recreation Area located near Fort Myers. The Corps was notified this afternoon by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) that an algal bloom upstream of the beach had tested positive for microcystin, a substance produced by freshwater cyanobacteria. Tests of water in the immediate vicinity of the beach were negative. However, the Corps has decided to suspend water activities at the beach until further notice.

    With more than 200 job vacancies to fill in the coming months, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District will host a job fair in downtown Sacramento May 27 to share the opportunities and help prospective applicants navigate the application process.
