  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ trail designated as a National Recreation Trail

    The North Slope Trail at Lake Sonoma, in Healdsburg, California, has been designated a national recreation trail by the U.S. Department of the Interior. The trail is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, San Francisco District and is among 21 trails nationwide designated this year as new national recreation trails.

    Lake Shelbyville – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites area residents and their canine pets to join them on Saturday, July 5, 2014 for the Dog Days of Summer Dog Show. This is 20th annual Lake Shelbyville Dog Show and it is sure to be a dog-gone good time.
  • Birds of prey program to be held at Rend Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake will be hosting the eighth program in the ongoing Environmental Science Series of Programs. “Birds of Prey,” presented by Bev Shofstall from the Free Again Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the Rend Lake Project Office and Visitor Center. Visitors will have the opportunity to see a bald eagle, a red-tailed hawk, a turkey vulture, and a kestrel up close as Bev shows some of the fascinating birds of prey that reside at the center. There will be 2 programs; the first will begin at 11 a.m. and the second at 2 p.m.
  • Lake Shelbyville Quilt Show

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville will be hosting a Quilt Show from Tuesday, July 8 to Sunday, July 13 at the Lake Shelbyville Visitor Center during normal hours of operation. As a reminder, the Visitor Center is open Sunday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

    On June 14, nearly 2000 people including more than 765 kids stormed the shores of Michael J. Kirwan Reservoir with a free fishing rod in one hand and donated bait in the other.

  • Corps to close portion of Lake O Scenic Trail near Okeechobee

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced plans to close a section of the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail (LOST) near Okeechobee as rehabilitation continues on the Herbert Hoover Dike, the earthen structure surrounding the lake.
