  • Permit decisions scheduled for 2016 on two Colorado Front Range Water resource projects

    Permit decisions for Denver Water’s Moffat Collection System Project, and the Municipal Subdistrict of the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District’s Windy Gap Firming Project have been rescheduled for release in 2016. Both projects propose to divert water from the upper Colorado River to the Colorado Front Range. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Section 404 Clean Water Act permit decisions were originally scheduled for release in late 2015, but coordination with other Federal, Tribal, State, and local agencies is on-going for these complex water supply proposals.

    MOBILE, Ala.-- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, (USACE) Mobile District, has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Port of Gulfport Expansion Project. The DEIS evaluates the potential impacts from expanding onsite facilities and expanding the port’s turning basin at the Port of Gulfport.

  • Chittenden Locks large chamber closes to vessel traffic Nov. 10 to Dec. 2

    The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks large chamber will close to marine traffic from 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2. Crews will conduct maintenance and safety inspections during the large chamber pump out and closure. Foot traffic may occasionally be diverted or delayed for crane operations, but pedestrians will always be able to cross. The small lock will continue round-the-clock operations, accommodating vessels less than 115 feet in length and 26 feet in width.     WASHINGTON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today that it will waive day use fees for veterans, active and reserve component service members, and their families at the more than 2,800 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide on Veterans Day, November 11.

    A Miami-Dade County homebuilder, Juan Carlos Sainz, has been required to pay a $45,000 civil penalty and repay $222,482.96 plus $30,276 in interest to settle alleged violations of the Clean Water Act.

  • Corps awards $81 million for Common Mission Control Center at Beale AFB

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded an $81 million contract Sept. 18 to Walsh Federal JV of Chicago for construction of the Common Mission Control Center at Beale Air Force Base near Marysville, California.
