  • Cemetery’s Welcome Center renovations set to start later this month

    The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, awarded Polu Kai Services, LLC -- a native Hawaiian owned, small disadvantaged business, service-disabled veteran owned business -- with a $4.3 million contract on August 25 to make upgrades to the facility, including its basement space visitor bathrooms, and the electrical, water and fire protection systems.
  • Nashville District showcasing historical maps from 1800s

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 16, 2014) – An 1874 military map of Middle Tennessee and 1888 map of Muscle Shoals were recently restored and replicas of them are now being showcased in the Barlow Conference Room located at the headquarters of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District.
  • Ringer Park Temporary Closured for Upgrades

    MOBILE, Ala.--The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District at West Point Project announced that Ringer Park will be temporarily closed, on a periodic basis from mid September through October, so Anderson Construction Company can perform facility improvements. These intermittent closures are necessary while improvements are being made in the park.
  • West Point Dam Road Traffic Restricted

    MOBILE, Ala.--The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, West Point Project, announced that vehicular and pedestrian traffic across the dam road will be closed Monday, September 15, 2014 through Friday September 26, 2014 to ensure public safety as contractors complete roadway maintenance.

  • Port Mayaca lock operators play key role in rescue and rehabilitation of injured manatee

    March 15 started like so many other days for Jon Fields, a veteran lock operator at the Port Mayaca Lock & Dam on the east side of Lake Okeechobee in south Florida. As he was performing his pre-operation checks to begin the day, he noticed a manatee along the shore of the lake.
  • Army Corps awards $39 million for Camp Roberts satellite facility

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $39 million contract Sept. 3 to Watts Constructors LLC of Honolulu, Hawaii, to build satellite communication facilities at Camp Roberts, near Paso Robles.
  • Army Corps awards $7 million for Fort Ord habitat restoration project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District awarded a $7 million contract Aug. 28 to Burleson Consulting Inc. of Folsom for habitat restoration and biomonitoring of endangered species at the former Fort Ord. This phase of the environmental project is set to begin in fall of 2014 and end in the fall of 2019.
  • Corps completes construction on first contract for Indian River Lagoon-South project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District, completed construction on its first contract for a substantial Everglades restoration project in Martin County, Fla., July 31. The project, known as the C-44 Reservoir and Stormwater Treatment Area (STA) project, is the first component of the multi-billion dollar Indian River Lagoon-South project that will serve a vital role in storing and treating local basin run-off.
