Great Bridge Lock down; Corps divers on the scene

The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers closed the Great Bridge Lock in Chesapeake, Va., at approximately 7:30 a.m., today to repair inoperative valve.

Nashville District works with partners on engineering solutions at Chickamauga Lock

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Aug. 29, 2013) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is collaborating with industry, West Virginia University, Engineering Research and Development Center and Tennessee Valley Authority to find a better solution to unacceptable deterioration around Chickamauga Lock’s discharge ports that cannot be dewatered.

Dive team inspects Pickwick Lock ahead of dewatering

COUNCE, Tenn. (March 5, 2013) – Divers and support personnel are doing a thorough underwater inspection of Pickwick Lock this week ahead of scheduled maintenance. The team is looking for signs of wear and tear and mapping its findings as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District prepares to empty water from the lock later this year.

Divers Assess Placement of John Martin Dam Supports

A project is planned to replace damaged and, in some cases, missing bulkhead gate supports at the District’s John Martin Dam. The existing supports have been in place since the dam was built more than 50 years ago.
