  • District geologists educate Mosul Dam engineers on GIS modeling

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 17, 2017) – Five engineers from the Ministry of Water Resources at the Mosul Dam project in Iraq and one engineer from Trevi S.p.A., the construction company working on the project, recently completed three weeks of training with a U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Data Management Reach Back Team. They learned about a Nashville District developed Mosul Dam Geographic Information Systems model, the GIS software, and the geology model of Mosul Dam.

    CELINA, Tenn. (Jan. 28, 2017) – Eager sightseers boarded a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers open barge today to explore for American Bald Eagles along the Dale Hollow Lake shoreline. They stared at the tree tops on the horizon for a glimpse of America’s symbol of freedom and learned about how these amazing birds made a comeback to the region in the 1980s.
  • Corps employee hits the slopes to assist adaptive skiers

(Jan. 26, 2017) – Individuals with special needs from the south eastern region of the United States spend time on the mountainous ski slopes every winter thanks to the help of many volunteers. A U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District team member often spends a portion of the winter at an eastern Tennessee ski resort supporting the free ski clinic for dozens of adaptive skiers.
