The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Logistics Activity team working in Alaska overcomes the constraints of time, distance, terrain and weather to support unique mission requirements across an area spanning 660,000 square miles.
  • USACE completes new high-altitude research laboratory on Pikes Peak

    The Army’s new high-altitude research laboratory at the top of Pikes Peak in Cascade, Colorado, was officially completed on July 1, and is the highest facility of its kind in North America. Built by members from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District’s Ft. Carson Resident Office team for the U.S. Army Research Institute for Environmental Medicine, this new lab will greatly enhance research to optimize Soldiers’ health and strengthen today’s warfighter.

    A Record of Decision was signed by the Acting Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works as part of the Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa (ACT) River Basin – Allatoona Lake Water Supply Storage Reallocation Study and Updates to Weiss and Logan Martin Reservoirs Project Water Control Manuals on Aug. 27.
  • USACE and Ozarks Water Watch announce the 21st Annual Shoreline Clean-Up Event celebrating National Public Lands Day

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District and Ozarks Water Watch are seeking volunteers to participate in the 21st Annual Shoreline Clean-up event in conjunction with National Public Lands Day. The event will take place at Table Rock Lake, Lake Taneycomo and Bull Shoals Lake Sept. 18-19 and 25-26.
  • Corps to start rock overlay at Tuttle Creek Dam in September, will close access near dam

    Work is expected to begin on or about September 7, 2021 and will require closure of public access, including the east and west dam parking lots and the entire upstream face of the dam. These closures include all pedestrian and bank fishing.  The project will span several months, with no anticipated road closures and this initial phase is expected to be complete in early 2022.

While participating in water related recreation activities, always wear your life jacket. Over two-thirds of people who drown never had any intention of being in the water.
  • Wallisville Accepting Hog Removal Applications

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District’s Wallisville Lake Project Office staff is now accepting applications for feral hog removal using trained dogs and trapping. The project will offer 50 dog hunting permits to individuals using trained dogs on a first-come-first-serve basis. A limited number of trapping permits will also be available throughout the year to those interested in trapping feral hogs on project lands.
