NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 19, 2012) – Celebrating Earth Day’s 42nd anniversary April 21, 2012, Nashville District lakes are uniting with local communities to promote this year’s Earth Day theme “Mobilize the Earth™” by raising awareness of environmental issues and providing opportunities for the public to participate in Earth-friendly activities. New beach/seawall vital for facility's ability to lift off
The construction of a 14-foot-high seawall, as well as a widened beach, at NASA's Wallops Island Flight Facility's launch range will help slow erosion along the island that has seen the sea advance approximately 8 to 11 feet per year in recent decades.

Corps holding public meetings, will discuss Missouri River flood rehab efforts
