    BROWNSVILLE, Texas (July 22, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District awarded a contract in the amount of $3,116,000 to Goodloe Marine Inc., a woman-owned small business, for maintenance dredging of the Brownsville Ship Channel in Cameron County, Texas.

    NR 13-029: Public has two more chances this year to tour Old Hickory Lock and Dam

    OLD HICKORY, Tenn. (July 22, 2013) – There are two more chances this recreation season for the public to tour Old Hickory Lock and Dam. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District invites people of all ages to come out to the lake to tour the structures during the final two open house tours scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 10 and 31 beginning at 11 a.m. Guided tours of the structure are free to the public and approximately 60 minutes in length.

    Mississippi River Commission schedules low-water inspection trip

    VICKSBURG, Miss., July 22, 2013 -- The Mississippi River Commission will conduct its annual low-water inspection trip on the Mississippi River August 12-23, 2013. Seven public meetings have been scheduled aboard the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI in selected towns along the river so commission members have the opportunity to meet with local residents and hear their concerns, ideas and issues.

    NEW YORK – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District has awarded a $7.3 million contract to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company of Oak Brook, Ill., to place approximately 600,000 cubic yards of sand along the beach at Coney Island in the area of the previously constructed coastal storm risk reduction project there. The work is part of near-term coastal restoration efforts taking place at previously constructed coastal storm risk reduction projects throughout the region.
