    In June 2013, Jacksonville District’s “River of Interests: Water Management in South Florida and the Everglades, 1948-2010” became the first U.S. Army Corps of Engineers publication to be placed on the American Library Association’s (ALA) 2012 Notable Documents list.     Carlyle Lake – The American Red Cross in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be hosting a blood drive on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Carlyle Lake Visitor Center from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The American Red Cross works diligently every day to keep an adequate supply of blood, especially in preparation for the summer recreation months when donations are needed. In the U.S. today, a blood transfusion is needed every two seconds. The need for blood is ongoing—24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to give the gift of life to help meet the demand.
