    Kaskaskia River Clean-Up Success

    Volunteers from the Kaskaskia Mariners Association participated in the first of two scheduled Kaskaskia River Cleanup Days on Saturday, March 15. The clean-up was a big success with volunteers filling a 20 cubic yard dumpster during the event. The cleanup effort was concentrated in the New Athens portion of the river. Lunch was provided for all that participated by Smitty’s at the Marina.

    Mississippi River Commission schedules high-water inspection trip

    The Mississippi River Commission will conduct its annual high-water inspection trip on the Mississippi River April 7-11, 2014. Four public meetings have been scheduled aboard the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI in selected towns along the river so commission members have the opportunity to meet with local partners, stakeholders and residents and hear their concerns, ideas and issues.

    14-017 Dworshak to increase discharge on Sunday in anticipation of additional inflows

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Discharge flows from Dworshak Dam will be increased on Sunday from approximately 14,100 c.f.s. (cubic feet per second) to about 17,100 c.f.s. to make room for anticipated inflows resulting from spring rainfall and snowmelt, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers water-management officials.

    14-016 Idaho ‘Silver Jackets’ celebrates 5 years of flood risk reduction teamwork

    BOISE, Idaho – National Flood Safety Awareness Week, March 17-21, is an annual campaign promoted by the National Weather Service and other agencies to highlight some of the many ways floods can occur, the hazards associated with floods and what people can do to save lives and property. Appropriately, the Idaho Silver Jackets, an interagency flood risk management team, is recognizing five years of working with the State of Idaho and other stakeholders in developing and implementing solutions to flood hazards.
