    Former U.S. Army 10th Mountain soldiers now leading the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Great Lakes region

    COL Drew, LTC Czekanski, and LTC Sugrue each wear the unit patch of the 10th Mountain Division on the right arm of their uniform, signifying their time with the Division during tours of duty in combat. It is symbol of their commitment to protect our Nation in a time of war, a commitment they continue today serving with the Corps of Engineers during a time of peace.

    Corps of Engineers Proposes to Dredge Cleveland Harbor

    After repeated efforts by the Corps to obtain a voluntary agreement among the parties, the Corps has told the court that the Corps is willing to voluntarily agree to award the contract to dredge the disputed Upper Reach of Cleveland Harbor and will advance the funds needed to dispose of the sediment in a confined disposal facility, provided that there is adequate assurance that the Corps will be reimbursed if it is ultimately successful on the merits of this case.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Detroit District has awarded a $928,625 contract to RBV Contracting, Inc. of Detroit, MI, to stabilize a portion of the north bank of the Red Run drain in Macomb County, Michigan.

    Army Corps enacts new permit process for activities in Maryland

    The Baltimore District published its fifth version of the Maryland State Programmatic General Permit, Oct. 1, 2016, which will expire Sept. 30, 2021. The intent of MDSPGP-5 is to provide a streamlined Department of the Army authorization for certain recurring activities in Maryland formerly covered by the Nationwide Permits program that are similar in nature, have minimal individual and cumulative adverse effects on the aquatic environment, and satisfy other public interest review factors.

    16-072 Sand Station Recreation Area campsites to be closed Oct. 1 for beach and campground reconstruction

    UMATILLA, Oregon –Sand Station Recreation Area campsites near Umatilla, Oregon, will be closed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers until further notice on Sunday, Oct. 1, to reconstruct beach and camping areas. The beach has been severely eroded by waves from the reservoir during the past several years. Day use of Sand Station will be allowed during construction. Restrooms will remain open.
