Corps awards contract for Pinellas County beach renourishment

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District awarded a contract on September 27 to Norfolk Dredging Company, of Chesapeake, Virginia, for $36,569,582.00, for the Pinellas County Beach Renourishment Project, part of the Pinellas County Storm Protection Project. Norfolk will renourish critically eroded shoreline in Pinellas County using dredge material from Egmont Shoals as well as Johns Pass.

Seattle District will begin dredging in La Push, WA

A U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contractor is staging equipment near La Push, Washington, in anticipation for upcoming dredging operations. Portable Hydraulic Dredging, LLC, from Anchorage, Alaska, is scheduled to start Sept. 29 on the $1.7 million project. The company will dredge about 60,000 cubic yards, working until December, barring weather delays.

CORPS POSTPONES HIGHWAY 25 BRIDGE CLOSURE ACROSS GREERS FERRY DAM

HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. – The Corps of Engineers has postponed the Sept. 27 and 28 temporary closure of both lanes of Highway 25 across Greers Ferry Dam. The closure will be rescheduled in the near future. The one lane closure will remain in effect.

Representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, participated in Branch Week held in September at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y. Branch Week was an event where cadets pursuing their military education at the U.S. Military Academy had an opportunity to become familiar with the different Branches within the U.S. Army.

CORPS TO ISSUE SPECIAL PERMITS TO 5 YOUTH DEER HUNTERS

ASHDOWN, Ark. -- The Army Corps of Engineers is taking applications from hunters ages 6-15 who want to participate in a special deer hunt Nov. 4 at Millwood Lake. Five permits will be issued to young hunters who seek to experience the outdoors and have a great place to hunt that is normally closed to hunting.
