  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announce work to begin at Navarro Mills Lake

    FORT WORTH, Texas – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District will begin repairs behind the dam at Navarro Mills Lake to repair the discharge channel slope and fishing platform on Jan. 12, 2018. Access to the stilling basin entrance road, parking area, and fishing platform will be closed until construction is complete. Repairs are estimated to take up to six months to complete, weather permitting.
  • 18-002 Little Goose navigation lock to temporarily close Jan. 17

    STARBUCK, Wash. – Little Goose Dam’s navigation lock will be closed to all vessel traffic from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17. The temporary closure is necessary to provide safer conditions for divers working on the dam’s trash shear boom near the vicinity of the lock, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials at the dam.

    PHILADELPHIA (Jan. 12, 2018) – The U.S. Army Corps Engineers’ Philadelphia District released the Flow Management Plan for the Francis E. Walter Dam in White Haven, PA. The plan, developed in partnership with Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, lists dates and release amounts for whitewater and fisheries releases for 2018, 2019, and 2020.
  • Exploring sea ice production in the Ross Sea

    Julie Parno with the U.S. Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory in Hanover, New Hampshire, participated in a two-month polar science cruise aboard the icebreaker Nathaniel B. Palmer in support of the U.S. Antarctic Program Polynyas, Ice Production and Seasonal Evolution in the Ross Sea. The objective of the science cruise was to observe the interaction between the air, sea and ice.
