• Vicksburg District Announces Promotion of 1st Lt. Cameron Fulford to Captain

    VICKSBURG, MISS… The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District, is proud to announce the promotion of 1st Lt. Cameron W. Fulford to the military rank of Captain. Capt. Fulford is working at the Vicksburg District through the Army’s Technical Engineer Competency Development Program (TEC-DP). TEC-DP allows 1st Lieutenants with engineering and architecture degrees the opportunity to work for USACE for 18 months before entering the Engineer Captain’s Career Course.
  • Coast Guard admiral tours Chickamauga Lock

    CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (May 4, 2018) – The U.S. Coast Guard’s incoming assistant commandant toured Chickamauga Lock today to see where physical expansion of concrete causes structural deficiencies, and observe how ongoing excavation of the riverbed is making way for construction of a new navigation lock to improve access to the upper reaches of the Tennessee River Basin.
  • Sheppard’s Island Park to Close for Debris Removal

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers will temporarily close Sheppard Island Park, adjacent to Emmett Sanders Lock & Dam near Pine Bluff, Ark., for up to six weeks beginning May 9 to allow contractors to remove about 30,000 cubic yards of sand and debris deposited in the park during the 2015 and 2016 floods.

  • Iraq F-16 program construction hits major milestone

    On 24 April, representatives from the government of Iraq, the Air Force Security Assistance Center, the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Division's Middle East District conducted a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark a major milestone in the construction of facilities supporting the Government of Iraq’s purchase of F-16 aircraft from the United States.
  • Corps of Engineers reopens two Minneapolis locks to recreational traffic

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, reopened its locks at Lower St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam and Lock and Dam 1, both in Minneapolis, today to recreational traffic.
  • Corps drills into Cottage Grove Dam during geotechnical investigation

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Dam Safety team is conducting a geotechnical investigation at Cottage Grove Dam near Eugene, Ore., beginning Thursday, which includes drilling borings in the dam embankment.
  • Clearwater Pass maintenance dredging begins soon

    Maintenance dredging of Clearwater Pass in Pinellas County is scheduled to begin May 5 and will take an estimated 35 days to complete. The project includes dredging within the federal navigation channel at Clearwater Pass to previously authorized depths in the entrance channel, from the bridge to the junction with the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, and also branching into Clearwater Harbor.
  • Huntsville Center awards, modifies IT contracts

    HUNTSVILLE, Alabama--The U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville awarded a $64 million firm-fixed-price contract to Leidos Innovations Corp., Gaithersburg, Maryland, April 25 to provide enterprise-wide information management/information technology services in support of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Work will be performed in Vicksburg, Mississippi, with an estimated completion date of 2019.
