• Corps closes Prairie Creek and War Eagle swim beaches until further notice

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Beaver Project Office has closed the swimming areas at Prairie Creek and War Eagle parks located on Beaver Lake, until further notice. The temporary closure is the result of higher than acceptable E-Coli levels that were found during routine testing conducted by the Arkansas Department of Health. The Corps has posted signs indicating high bacteria levels at these locations. Swimming is not recommended in areas with high bacteria levels.

    ELWOOD, Kan. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism will temporarily close portions of the 1,601-acre Elwood Bottoms Fish and Wildlife Mitigation Site Wildlife Area beginning June 1, 2020 due to construction of the St. Joseph Levee Raise Project by the Corps of Engineers. This temporary closure is to ensure the safety of construction workers and the public.

  • Hartwell Lake closes Singing Pines boat ramp

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – Corps of Engineers officials at Hartwell Lake have closed all access at Singing Pines Recreation Area, including the roadway leading to the boat ramp parking area, in response to repeated trespassing of the adjacent closed day-use area and public safety issues along the park entrance road and the boat ramp parking area.
  • Army Corps team deploys to Montana, Idaho for flood assistance

    The Emergency Operations Center at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District, partially activated May 19 in response to the St. Joe and Clark Fork rivers exceeding flood stage. The states of Idaho and Montana requested technical assistance and six USACE flood responders have deployed to the area to provide support.
  • Corps awards contract to complete levee repairs on the Missouri River L-536 levee system north of Corning, Missouri

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,  Omaha District, awarded a $8.74 million construction contract to AECOM Technical Services, Inc. of Los Angeles, California, Tuesday, to close the remaining breaches and making final repairs on the Missouri River L-536 levee system north of Corning, Missouri.  The L-536 system is the last remaining Missouri River levee damaged by the March 2019 flood event in need of full repair.

The temporary closure is the result of higher than acceptable E-Coli levels that were found during routine testing conducted by the Arkansas Department of Health
