20-046 Corps to close confluence parking lot for maintenance

Published Aug. 28, 2020

Lewiston, ID. – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials announced today that they will be closing the confluence parking lot from Monday, Aug. 31 until Saturday Sept. 5 to accommodate asphalt maintenance work.

Lower Granite Natural Resource Management maintenance staff will be applying a seal coat to the parking lot. While work is in progress, the area, restrooms and pedestrian bridge connecting the parking lot at the confluence on the Lewiston Levee Parkway to the Lewis-Clark Interpretive Center will be temporarily closed to visitors and vehicles. The temporary closure is needed to ensure the work crew has safe access to the area, and to protect visitors and their vehicles from seal-coat overspray.

“This maintenance will make the lot and roadway safer, prolong the asphalt’s durability and, in the long-run, save money on more-costly repairs, by preventing minor cracks and potholes from developing into bigger problems,” Megan Innes, Assistant Natural Resource Manager at Natural Resource Management Office, said.
