Ms. Antonia Giardina serves as the Interim Chief of the Environmental Division, Directorate of Military Programs, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Headquarters. In this role, she oversees the annual execution of approximately $2.5 billion in environmental services supporting the Department of Defense, Environmental Protection Agency, and other interagency partners. The environmental services provided include hazardous, toxic, and radioactive waste cleanup, military munitions cleanup, environmental compliance, environmental planning, and natural and cultural resources management. Ms. Giardina’s permanent position is the Deputy Chief of the Environmental Division, which she has occupied since December 2016. She also oversees USACE’s internal Sustainability Program, focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from USACE facilities and operations.
Ms. Giardina has 24 years of experience working environmental and sustainability issues in the federal government and private industry. Ms. Giardina’s previous positions include the Climate Change Program Manager at the Department of Commerce; the Sustainability Program Manager at USACE; the Sustainability Branch Chief at the U.S. Army Environmental Command; Lean Six Sigma Deployment Coordinator at the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations and Environment; Program Analyst at the U.S. Army Materiel Command; and Environmental Coordinator at Corrpro Companies, Inc.
Ms. Giardina has a bachelor’s degree from Colgate University in Environmental Biology, a master’s degree from the University of Maryland in Sustainable Development and Conservation Biology and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
