LTC Antoinette Gant and Gregg Shutiva, Gov. of the Pueblo of Acoma

March 13, 2013:  LTC Antoinette Gant and Gregg Shutiva, Governor of the Pueblo of Acoma.  Signing the Watershed Cost Share Agreement for a Watershed Study on the Rio San Jose in West Central New Mexico.  It's scheduled as a three year study with a total study cost of approximately $1 Million.  The project is being carried out under the Section 203 Tribal Partnership Program (gratuitous plug).  It is the second active 203 in the nation, a study with Santa Clara Pueblo being the first.  We have two more Section 203 watershed studies in the cue to be signed, with San Felipe and Santa Ana Pueblos. 

Dr. Karen Krepps  Feb. 22, 2013:  Dr Karen Krepps, Detroit District Tribal Liaison and District Archeologist, retires Feb 22 2013.  She was presented with a bronze DeFleury medal and a sage bundle, among other things, in honor of her 32 years of service.

Dallesport Completion, April 2012 April, 2012:  The Dallesport Treaty Fishing Access Site, the 31st and final access site constructed by the Corps along the Columbia River, has been completed. The 31 sites are mitigation for fishing areas lost by the tribes when Bonneville Dam was constructed in 1938, flooding traditional access points to the river. Construction of the sites began in 1988 and was completed in 2012.
