Olli, a self-driving bus, launched at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall on June 19, 2019 as part of the joint Autonomous Vehicle Pilot Program.

“This opens up the door to many technological advances,” said Maj. Gen. Anthony Funkhouser, deputy commanding general for military and international operations for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. “You can take this technology into the battlefield.”

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) will research and collect data on Olli for operations on smart bases of the future.

The program launched with the help of all involved: the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment; the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center; Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall; Local Motors by LM Industries Group, Inc.; the Virginia Department of Transportation; and the Northern Virginia Regional Commission.
