Strom Thurmond Lake for damage caused by Hurricane Helene.

Sullivan Award recipient due to her efforts during hurricane disaster recovery operations, where she ensured improvements for the Blue Roof missions were implemented and for her fieldwork to improve operations during debris missions.
  • South Atlantic Division Regional Harbor Dredging EIS contract awarded

    Savannah, Ga. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Savannah District, awarded a $9.3 million contract on June 2, 2025, to support the preparation of four concurrent and individual National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of Brunswick Harbor, Charleston Harbor, Morehead City Harbor, and Wilmington Harbor navigation projects that address the implementation of the 2020 National Marine Fisheries Service South Atlantic Regional Biological Opinion.

    SAVANNAH, Ga. – Across the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, day use fees have been waived at its more than 2,600 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide, including Hartwell, Richard B. Russell and J. Strom Thurmond Lakes, in observance of two special days – the Corps of Engineers’ 250th birthday on June 16, and Juneteenth National Independence Day on June 19.
