  • Jacksonville District celebrates groundbreaking of L-28 South Culverts for Western Everglades Restoration Project

    JACKSONVILLE, Florida (July 10, 2024) – On July 10, 2024, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Jacksonville District joined South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Miccosukee Tribe of Indians, Seminole Tribe of Florida, Everglades National Park Service, Big Cypress National Park Service, and many other federal, state and local partners to celebrate the groundbreaking for the first major feature of the Western Everglades Restoration Project (WERP), the L-28 South Culverts.
  • Teamwork protects land, “helps ensure Mississippi River does not try to change course”

    The Memphis District's Revetment Branch and Metals Units recently finalized a flapgate repair on what’s called the “Fritz Landing Culvert” in Lake County, Tennessee, in August 2022. Their hard work and collaboration will undoubtedly result in the extended protection of almost 7 thousand acres of land. Additionally, this project will contribute to decreasing the Mississippi River’s meandering ways, and thus safeguard many surrounding localities for many, many years to come.
  • Final ribbon-cuttings close out two-day celebration blitz

    To close out the two-day sprint across five states, the Memphis District held two final ribbon-cutting ceremonies on Nov. 18, 2021. Both events celebrated construction projects completed in Arkansas and Missouri.
  • Corps of Engineers announces temporary road closures across Smithville Dam

    SMITHVILLE, Mo. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Smithville Lake are making repairs to an aging culvert under Litton Way, which will result in temporary road closures for safety. Improvements to the culvert under the roadway will provide extended longevity for travelers. The contractor, HK Solutions Group, will close a section of Litton Way beginning 7 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2021. This road closure is estimated to last through Wednesday or Thursday, depending on the repairs and potential weather delays.  During this time, vehicles can access Smithsfork Drive from DD Highway and Litton Way. Please plan for detours during this time.

    LEWISTON, Idaho – On Feb. 22, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Natural Resources maintenance staff will commence preparations for work on the Clearwater recreational trail to replace drainage culverts.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 5, 2019) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces the closure of the Left Bank Recreation Area overlook parking lot below Old Hickory Dam in Old Hickory, Tenn., beginning Sunday, June 9, 2019 to replace a culvert in the tailwater area.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District has awarded a contract to replace a water control structure in Glades County as part of the ongoing Herbert Hoover Dike Rehabilitation project.

    The Albuquerque District’s Operations Division recently used an interagency agreement to collaborate with the Bureau of Land Management to repair and improve the access road and culverts on the Jemez Dam maintenance access road.
  • Massive Cross Culverts Installed at Charleroi Lock and Dam

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District successfully installed the two massive precast concrete cross culverts in the new middle wall at Monongahela River Lock and Dam 4 at Charleroi near Pittsburgh, Pa., Jan. 31.
  • Army Corps and City of Philadelphia celebrate ecosystem restoration

    PHILADELPHIA – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Philadelphia District and the Philadelphia Water Department celebrated the completion of a first-of-its-kind ecosystem restoration project during an April 25 ribbon cutting and site tour event at Morris Park in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia.
