  • USACE issues Notice for the Picayune Strand Restoration Project

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act, has issued a Notice of Availability of the Supplemental Environmental Assessment (SEA) and proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Picayune Strand Restoration Project (PSRP) Miller Berm, Collier County, Florida.

  • Corps awards $81 million in construction contracts for Everglades restoration

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District, awarded four construction contracts for ecosystem restoration in south Florida in the past week, valued at more than $81 million. The construction projects include the Biscayne Bay Coastal Wetlands, Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) South, and Picayune Strand Restoration Projects, which are components of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP).

    In June 2013, Jacksonville District’s “River of Interests: Water Management in South Florida and the Everglades, 1948-2010” became the first U.S. Army Corps of Engineers publication to be placed on the American Library Association’s (ALA) 2012 Notable Documents list. It was one of 20 federal publications to be so honored.
