    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Baltimore District, received more than $218 million in funding for numerous infrastructure improvement, dredging, and environmental projects benefiting Maryland, Pennsylvania, southern New York, and the District of Columbia, including $62 million towards Baltimore Harbor operations and maintenance and $71.9 million for the Mid-Chesapeake Bay Island project.

  • Detroit District receives $558.9 million investment from FY25 Work Plan

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, is receiving a total allocation in the Operations & Maintenance account of $291.2 million in the Work Plan, released May 15, 2025, for connecting channels and harbor projects, $264.1 million for the New Lock at the Soo construction project and $3.6 million to conduct investigation studies. The released work plan provides the entire appropriation for the Corps of Engineers under the yearlong continuing resolution that was passed. “This is an exciting opportunity for the Detroit District team to provide solutions to our regional infrastructure,” said Detroit District Commander Lt. Col. Wallace Bandeff. “Repairing, maintaining and improving our federal harbors and infrastructure is essential to bring resiliency to our communities, our economy and the environment. I know the Detroit District team and our partners are ready to deliver these historic investments!"

  • The Chicago District is ready to deliver on additional $27.8 million in Fiscal Year 2024 Civil Works appropriations.

    The Chicago District is geared up to put an additional $27.8 million to work from the Fiscal Year 2024 Civil Works appropriations. Congress allocated a hefty $8.681 billion for the Army Civil Works Program, spreading across various crucial areas like Investigations, Construction, Operation and Maintenance, Mississippi River and Tributaries, and Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District received a total of $17.6 million in the Fiscal Year 2024 Work Plan for Army Civil Works to bolster navigation and structures across lakes Erie and Ontario. The total FY24 budget, to include the Conferenced Budget and Work Plan, exceeds $226.2 million, paving the way for significant environmental, navigation, and civil works improvements across the Buffalo District area of responsibility.

  • Great Lakes’ infrastructure grows $31.5 million stronger from Work Plan, Consolidated Appropriations Act

    DETROIT- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, is receiving nearly $26.7 million in the Fiscal Year 2022 Work Plan for operations and maintenance of Michigan river and harbor projects. The FY22 Work Plan funding is in addition to the $4.8 million from the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022, $117.2 million of FY22 President’s Budget and $561 million of FY22 funding from the Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act. “This is exciting for the Detroit District to be able to provide engineering solutions to Great Lakes region infrastructure with these historic investments,” said Detroit District Commander Lt. Col. Scott Katalenich. “It will be challenging, especially with today’s unprecedented global supply chain disruptions and workforce challenges, but repairing, maintaining, and improving our harbors and federal navigation channels is essential to the economic strength of our Nation.”
