  • Dam Building 101

    District staff from several project offices participated in the Third Annual Trinidad Water Festival, where approximately 1,700 Las Animas County students and teachers turned out to learn about water’s importance and local and regional water issues.
  • Trinidad Lake Closed to Boating

    Trinidad Lake in Trinidad Lake State Park is closed to boating until further notice. All other park activities, including fishing, camping and hiking, are still permitted. Wildfire aircraft will be dipping the lake for water to combat the Pipeline Fire on Fisher's Peak near Trinidad.

  • District Assesses Dams for Risk Management, Safety

    In 2005, the Corps overhauled how it looks at dams from a solely standards-based approach to a dam safety portfolio risk management approach, according to Suzi Hess-Brittelle, geologist and the District’s dam safety program manager.
