Corps of Engineers awards contract to repair Mississippi River habitat islands

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, recently awarded a $2.4 million contract to Water Works Dock & Boat Lifts, Inc. of Stoddard, Wisconsin, to repair a Mississippi River habitat restoration project approximately 40 miles south of La Crosse, Wisconsin, that was damaged by recent flooding events.

Corps of Engineers awards $8.8 million McGregor Lake contract

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, awarded an $8.8 million contract to Dubuque Barge & Fleeting Service Company doing business as Newt Marine Service, of Dubuque, Iowa, Sept. 28, to begin constructing a habitat restoration project in the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge located near Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

Public invited to Capoli Slough Islands restoration project dedication

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will celebrate the completion of the Capoli Slough Islands Habitat Rehabilitation and Enhancement Project during a public ceremony at public boat launch in Ferryville, Wisconsin, May 13 at 11 a.m.

Evolution of a new approach on how engineers design

A temporary end to design and construction activities in Pool 8 will occur this summer as the Corps focuses on other areas of the Upper Mississippi River, including Pool 9, said Novak. The success of the Pool 8 project and other EMP projects have paved the way for new designs and construction techniques.
