  • ERDC collaborates with U.S. Air Force, UK Met Office to enhance dust modeling forecasting

    Strengthening defense against dust outbreaks is a priority for the U.S. Air Force (USAF) 557th Weather Wing and the United Kingdom (UK) Met Office. Dust modeling technology developed by researchers from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) Geospatial Research Laboratory (GRL) to tackle dust related issues could be the key to overcoming this challenge.
  • ERDC researchers design, test new mobile treatment for relief wells

    A multi-agency team of researchers and specialists from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and industry collaborator WaterStep have partnered to design and test a new approach to clean and maintain relief wells from biofilm buildup. The new technology is called the Relief Well Sustainment (RWS) Deployable Resilient Installation water Purification and treatment System (DRIPS) mobile trailer.

    David Hibner was selected to the Senior Executive Service and began serving as the new director of the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Geospatial Research Laboratory (GRL) September 26, 2022. Along with his duties as GRL director, Hibner also serves as the director of the Army Geospatial Center (AGC) and the Geospatial Information Officer of the Army.
