  • Corps of Engineers Mississippi Headwaters reservoirs update

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, Mississippi River Headwaters reservoirs are at or below summer operating band and are ready for any potential spring precipitation.
  • Corps starts spring releases from Jamestown, Pipestem reservoirs

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, is increasing reservoir releases at Jamestown and Pipestem dams in North Dakota to begin evacuating spring snow melt runoff.
  • Corps approves temporary modifications to lake water management plans

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Due to ongoing challenging conditions with wet soils and higher than normal river levels across the Missouri River Basin, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District is canceling plans to increase water levels in reservoirs for the spring as stated in the annual water level management plans.    This temporary modification will better position the Kansas City District's reservoirs to receive spring runoff, and manage for locally heavy rainfall following record lake levels across the district last year. Nine of 18 district reservoirs reached record pools in 2019. Flood control operations at Kansas City District Reservoirs and Bureau of Reclamation lakes prevented $131 million in damages in Kansas and $2.27 billion in damages in Missouri during the 2019 flood event. Life safety and flood control are primary factors in reservoir operations throughout the Missouri River Basin.
  • 18-016 Dworshak increases flow discharge to 20,000 c.f.s.

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Discharge flows from Dworshak Dam and Reservoir will be increased today, Feb. 16, 2018, beginning at 11:59 p.m., from approximately 17,000 c.f.s. (cubic feet per second) to about 20,000 c.f.s. to make room in Dworshak Reservoir to meet seasonal flood-risk-management requirements.
  • USACE halts gated flood releases from Somerville Dam

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials at Somerville Lake Dam announce they have suspended all gated flood releases due to the current weather pattern, continuing rains and current Brazos River flows. With the current lake elevation, the roadway across the uncontrolled spillway is inundated and has been closed.
