LA District marks completion of Newport Bay Harbor jetty repairs, dredging slated to finish Sept. 10
After the placement of 4,500 tons of stone and 150 cubic yards of concrete, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District marked the completion of repairs to the east jetty at Newport Bay Harbor, with the area reopening to the public Aug. 25.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District today released the draft Environmental Assessment on the City of Los Angeles' proposed AngelFest event, a three-day music and arts festival scheduled to be held in Sepulveda Basin in October 2016, for public review and comment.

Flood agencies illustrate disaster threat, need for preparation
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District and California's Department of Water Resources are promoting California Flood Preparedness Week, Oct. 20-25, by releasing two video products to improve Californians’ awareness and preparedness for flooding.

Corps boots back on the ground in Mt. Charleston
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District has a team in place surveying the area in preparation for construction of a temporary berm and diversion channel structure along the Rainbow Subdivision in Mt. Charleston. Once the team completes its survey to see if any of the on-site features requires a change to the design due to the most recent flooding event, the District will continue through an accelerated review process and on to final plans and specs prior to construction.

LA District awards contract for Nogales Bridge
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District has awarded a contract Sept. 20 for $3,989,708.37 to West Point Contractors, Inc. to construct a replacement bridge over Nogales Wash. The project will begin construction in October and is expected to be complete in June 2014.
