Pittsburgh District and city of Clarksburg partner for $3 million project

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District entered a partnership agreement with the city of Clarksburg, West Virginia, to extend the city’s sanitary-sewer services to the Arlington, Dawmont, Glen Falls and Gore communities as part of a $3 million Section 219 Environmental Infrastructure project, April 26.

Agreement signed to help stop flooding in Detroit

DETROIT – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, has signed an agreement to assist the City of Detroit with direct assistance to fight against flood events expected during this upcoming spring and summer seasons. The cooperation agreement, signed electronically in light of COVID-19, will provide direct assistance to the City of Detroit in the Jefferson-Chalmers and Jefferson Village neighborhoods. “Even while the Detroit District and the Corps nation-wide is surging to help the nation respond to this pandemic, we're working diligently to help the City of Detroit and State of Michigan protect our communities from historically high water levels,” said Lt. Col. Greg Turner, district engineer, Detroit District.

Army Corps, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation release draft Chesapeake Bay Comprehensive Plan for input

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore and Norfolk districts, in partnership with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), released June 14 the draft Chesapeake Bay Comprehensive Water Resources and Restoration Plan and Restoration Roadmap that identifies 3,840 candidate aquatic ecosystem restoration, enhancement and conservation projects for implementation throughout the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.

Army Corps, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation release draft Chesapeake Bay Comprehensive Plan and Restoration Roadmap

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore and Norfolk districts, in partnership with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation announced the release of the main report of the draft Chesapeake Bay Comprehensive Water Resources and Restoration Plan, May 31, 2018. This plan provides a single, comprehensive and integrated restoration roadmap to inform and help guide decision makers at all levels of government and non-governmental agencies, of the problems, needs and opportunities within the 64,000-square-mile Chesapeake Bay Watershed.

Army Corps, Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments to start study on ways to protect vulnerable assets from coastal flooding

Baltimore District signed an agreement July 18 with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments to begin an approximately $3-million, three-year study on possible ways to address coastal flooding and storm damage across more than 57 square miles in the District of Columbia and surrounding areas of suburban Maryland and northern Virginia. As part of this study, the team will investigate flood risk and identify ways to help protect vulnerable assets upon which the region relies, like local governments, businesses, institutions and water, energy and communication utilities; transportation hubs; federal buildings and military installations; national security facilities; and significant national monuments and cultural treasures.

Corps signs agreement with locals, promotes volunteer and educational programs

TIOGA, Pa. — Community leaders, volunteers, visitors and members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers gathered Feb. 11 at the Ives Run Visitor Center for a ceremonial signing of the Friends of Tioga-Hammond & Cowanesque Lakes cooperative agreement. This agreement establishes a formal relationship between the Corps and community to provide volunteers, services, educational programs and family events to the local community.

Army Corps of Engineers signs first cooperation agreement with Nicholls State University

THIBODAUX, La.-- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, signed its first Memorandum of Agreement with Nicholls State University, July 17. The Memorandum of Agreement, or MOA, establishes the basis for mutual understanding and cooperation between the corps and the university, with a focus on the school's Department of Applied Science, Geomatics Program.
