    This summer, the record-breaking Hurricane Beryl entered the Caribbean Sea as a Category 5 hurricane before weakening to a Category 1 hurricane and hitting the Texas coast, July 8. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District Temporary Emergency Power Planning and Response Team (PRT) was on the ground supporting efforts to get the lights back on for over 2.7 million who lost power in the Houston area.

    The park ranger is the face of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at each of its lakes and reservoirs. You see them patrolling the lakes, campgrounds, recreation areas and picnicking sites. If you had the chance to step into their shoes for a day, would you do it? Members of the local Dallas and Fort Worth media had that opportunity recently during a ranger orientation day.

  • Park Ranger Leads Charge to Conserve Natural Resources at Lewisville Lake

    As part of an ongoing effort, Lewisville Lake Park Rangers are leading the Lewisville Lake Fisheries Restoration Project with the assistance of the U.S Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) - Lewisville Aquatic Ecosystem Research Facility (LAERF), Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Inland Fisheries Division, Boy Scouts of America, Department of Energy Oak Ridge for Science and Education, and the Marcus High School Bass Club.

  • USACE Galveston District and Jefferson County Drainage District No. 7 sign project partnership agreement

    GALVESTON, Texas (Dec. 2, 2019) –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Galveston District and the Jefferson County Drainage District No. 7 (DD7) are set to begin construction of the Port Arthur and Vicinity Coastal Storm Risk Management Project (CSRM). This construction project within the Southwestern Division's Storm Reconstruction and Risk Reduction Program, will increase protection and provide resiliency to the existing hurricane protection system. The first of five planned Construction projects for the area, is expected to begin April 2020.
