  • Stockton Lake holds joint emergency preparedness exercise

    Officials held an emergency preparedness tabletop exercise at Stockton Lake in Stockton, Missouri, on December 6, 2023, to showcase the joint emergency preparedness between local, state and federal agencies in the area. The tabletop exercise was coordinated and led by the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In attendance at the exercise were representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, National Weather Service, Missouri Department of Transportation, Missouri State Emergency Management Agency, Missouri Highway Patrol and St. Cloud County Emergency Management.
  • Annual Natural Resource Workshop: a chance for education and collaboration

    For the first time since 2019, the rangers and natural resource specialists from all 18 Kansas City District lake projects and the Kansas City District Headquarters management were able to gather in person for the annual Natural Resource Management Workshop in Bolivar, Missouri. The Kansas City District has lake and river projects in four states: Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa. With such a widespread area of responsibility, it is not always easy for park managers and rangers to meet one another. This four-day annual workshop allowed for the rangers to have their required continuing education on natural resource management, visitor assistance, visit projects close to the workshop and network with other rangers
  • Veterans Memorial at Stockton Lake dedicated on Armed Forces Day

    A dedication ceremony was appropriately held on Armed Forces Day for the Stockton Veterans Memorial at the Stockton Lake project office. This day paid and ceremony tribute to men and women who serve the United States’ armed forces and was a great opportunity for all to express their gratitude, admiration, and support to the men and women who have answered the noble call of service to their country.
  • Corps seeks comments on Stockton Lake water supply storage reallocation study

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District is seeking comments on a tentatively selected plan for the Stockton Lake water supply storage reallocation study. The tentatively selected plan proposes to reallocate 45,750 acre-feet from the Stockton Lake multipurpose pool and 49,000 AF from the flood control pool, with a 1.8-foot increase to the normal pool elevation. The plan would also include a new water intake structure within the existing City Utilities of Springfield easement at Stockton Lake.
  • Corps works with Stockton Lake community on preparedness

    The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Stockton Lake conducted a Tabletop Exercise Wednesday with the Local Emergency Management Communities around Stockton Dam. The exercise showcased joint Corps and community preparedness and how agencies would communicate and coordinate efforts on community preparedness during high releases or an extreme, rare flood event.
  • Gate repair at Corps Stockton Lake

    Gates on the spillway at Stockton dam have been undergoing repairs to replace the wire ropes that lift each gate since November 2018. Wire ropes on one gate were successfully replaced in February 2019 and subsequently wire ropes were removed on another gate to begin repairs.
  • Corps to hold public meeting to discuss high water at Stockton Lake

    Due to above average water levels being held in Stockton Lake, the Kansas City District and lake project personnel will hold a public meeting at the Stockton Community Building, Monday, June 3, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Corps of Engineers campgrounds at Stockton Lake require reservations

    STOCKTON, Mo. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Stockton Lake now requires reservations for all Corps-managed campsites.
