WASHINGTON (Feb. 26, 2016) – Country Music Recording
Group “LoCash” participated in a water safety public service announcement
urging fans to be safe when recreating on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
waterways with the “I Love This Life Jacket” message, a spinoff from the title
of their smash hit “I Love This Life.”
“I Love This Life” is moving up Billboard’s Hot Country
Songs chart. The song has sold 234,000 copies as of January 2016, the group’s
highest charting single to date.
Chris Lucas and Preston Brust of LoCash said they are very
appreciative of their fans and feel blessed by the group’s recent success with
“I Love This Life.” Partnering with the USACE
to promote water safety is a way of saying thank you, and the title of this
song goes perfectly with this PSA, they said.
In filming the PSA, the duo received a safety briefing from
USACE Park Rangers and then boarded a Corps patrol boat at Old Hickory Lake in Hendersonville,
Tenn. Chris and Preston asked questions about boating and water safety between
takes, and delivered their well-known brand of energy and excitement while on
set.
"We
just want to tell our fans and the world, that we love this life, and we love
hanging out at Corps of Engineers lakes" Preston Brust said. “Just be
careful, have fun, and enjoy life, so wear your life jacket,” Chris Lucas added.
USACE
operates over 400 lakes and river projects in 43 states, making it the largest federal
provider of water-based outdoor recreation in the nation. USACE averages more
than 370 million visits per year to its lakes and river projects.
“The
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wants everyone to visit our lake and river
projects and play it safe. The partnership
with LoCash reinforces that message,” said Pam Doty, USACE National Water
Safety Program manager. “The number one
thing anyone can do to help ensure they return home safely after recreating on
or near the water is to wear a life jacket.
That’s why I’m thrilled that LoCash decided to partner with the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers to get the word out to country music fans everywhere.”
Over
the past decade (2004-2014) there have been 1,583 fatalities at USACE lake and
river projects nationwide. Of those, 88 percent were men age 20 to 60, and 84
percent were not wearing a life jacket.
USACE
recently launched a national water safety campaign titled “Life Jackets Worn…Nobody
Mourns,” to encourage adults, especially men, to wear life jackets. To learn more about and to see campaign
products visit http://www.pleasewearit.com. The campaign includes a free mobile game
called “Lake Guard” that is available on Apple and Google Play app stores. The
LoCash PSA supports the Life Jackets Worn…Nobody Mourns campaign.
“We
all need to wear life jackets when on or near the water because we lose a lot
of people who take risks or never intended to be in the water. If they were
wearing life jackets, they would probably be here today,” added Doty.
Everyone
including the media is encouraged to share the LoCash water safety PSA and
#ILoveThisLifeJacket hashtag on social media, websites and broadcast on
television. The one minute PSA is
available on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/user/usacewatersafety and on the Defense Video and Imagery Distribution System at http://www.dvidshub.net/unit/usace-ws.
