Position Title: Survey Technician
Series/Grade: GS-0817-09
Full Performance Level: GS-09
Duty Location: Memphis TN, Engineering & Construction Division, Geotechnical Branch
Salary Range: $52,905-$68,777
Work Schedule: Full-Time
Appointment Type: Permanent
Travel Requirement: Temporary Duty Travel can be up to 90% of the time

Responsibilities/Duties: Incumbent works under the general supervision of the Chief, Survey and Mapping Section, Geotechnical Engineering Branch, Engineering and Construction Division. Incumbent is responsible for providing field inspection and technical direction of contract survey work performed in the District, and obtains rights-of-entry for contract survey parties. From minimal oral and written instructions, the incumbent uses knowledge of the work area and knowledge of current contract provisions, to make recommendations to the supervisor on the most economical methods of accomplishment based on field conditions and requirements of survey requests. From knowledge of the work area and knowledge of established survey techniques and procedures, prepares a detailed scope of work and a government estimate of time, manpower and equipment to be used as a basis to negotiate a fair and reasonable contract task order to accomplish the work.
Qualifications Requirements: One year of specialized experience at the GS-08 grade level or equivalent in the Federal Service.

Education Substitution:
Education: Two full years of graduate level education or a master's degree in Surveying Technology, Geomatics Technology, or other related field. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for
Verification.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
