NORFOLK, Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a virtual public meeting June 24 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. to discuss a proposed remedial action plan for an area of concern at Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot in Suffolk.
The public is invited to learn more and provide comments about the proposal covering Track H and I Magazine Line, known as AOC #11. After previous actions taken to remove impacted soils – and the completion of subsequent environmental testing – USACE is proposing no further measures at that location, project officials said.
The meeting can be accessed at https://h2hgeoscienceengineeringpllc.my.webex.com/h2hgeoscienceengineeringpllc.my/j.php?MTID=m495082d406db7fb3c93eedaa4e6fa5e9. Just enter your name and email address. To join by telephone, call 408-418-9388
(access code: 48839756).
The Proposed Plan and associated documents can be accessed on the project website at www.nao.usace.army.mil/Missions/Environmental/FNOD.
The files are also available for public review at Morgan Memorial Library, 443 West Jefferson St., Suffolk, VA 23434. The library’s hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. If library access is restricted due to COVID-19, call 757-514-7323
to arrange for pickup of a printed copy of the Proposed Plan.
If unable to participate in the virtual public meeting, which will be recorded, you can still submit comments by emailing Project Manager Sher Zaman at sher.zaman@usace.army.mil. The deadline is 5 p.m. July 17.
