Position Title:  Maintenance Scheduler/Planner

Series/Grade:  WD-4701-08

Full Performance Level:  WD-08

Duty Location:  Official Duty Station is the Ensley Engineer Yard

Hourly Salary Range:  $33.26-$38.80

Work Schedule:  Full-Time

Appointment Type:  Permanent

Travel Requirement:   10% or less

Responsibilities/Duties:  MAJOR DUTIES

Serves as Maintenance Scheduler and Planner and Subject Matter Expert in regards to marine maintenance, receiving and reviewing work orders and job orders to identify work required, work priority, approve work, identify and order resources required and identify funding, determine availability, and schedule work. Exercises a high degree of independent judgment and in-depth knowledge of: marine vessel repair and maintenance requirements; regulations, policies, and directives of this and higher headquarters; general craft guidelines; industry standards; technical publications; contracts; plans and specifications; quality control, and safety practices and requirements.

1. Serves as production leader of three shops of approximately eighty people, coordinates with shop supervisors to identify trades crafts required to perform work and availability of resources, developing schedules for starting and completing each phase of the work operations.

2. Reviews job and work orders, accompanying plans and equipment lists, and work and material estimates.

3. Identifies sources and procures raw materials, hardware, fabricated components, electrical equipment, plumbing equipment, and any special items required to maintain, repair, modify or fabricate all production and handling equipment.

4. Reviews plans and specifications for completeness. Coordinates design issues with external customers as well as Engineer and Architecture firms to include the USACE Marine Design Center.

5. Maintains records and prepares a variety of documents, visual aids, and reports to identify work schedules, work progress, and support work and resource planning.

7. Develops quality assurance plans and procedures; analyzing progress, quality and customer complaints to identify areas of inadequacy.
 
Schedule:  During Daylight Savings Months, typically March through October, this position works four 10-hour days each week beginning on Mondays.  During the rest of the year, the work week consists of five 8-hour days beginning on Mondays.

  • Must wear proper safety equipment when working in potentially hazardous situations; i.e., gloves, safety boots, goggles, hearing protection, life jackets, etc.
  • Work for position requires physical effort to walk and stand for long periods of time, reach and stretch, and work in awkward positions to conduct work inspections.
  • Work for this position is performed inside and outside in all types of weather with exposure to a variety of unpleasant conditions including fumes, sewers, and dust with exposure to a variety of hazards to conduct work inspections.
